My DragonEgg

Wow, this is even more incredible in person! Here is my DragonEgg from Kathi...thank you friend...I can't tell you how happy you made me :o)

I'm working on getting tax junk together, but I had to stop and take a quick pic for all to see! I think it will go on my mantle...

tesselations with blue (premo)

Yesterday, I used a teeny bit of premo blue with the kato...and actually used a little premo white to stretch the kato white. Probably about 1 part premo to 2 parts kato. I could tell the difference...it was a little stickier. These haven't been cured yet...or even completely finished for that matter.

Views from my back door...east and west

I know lots of folks...oh gawd...I sound like G dubbya...I know lots of people are getting snow and freezing weather...but today the weather here has been like pretty much every other day this winter...dry as a bone! Thought I would post a coupla pics of my neck of the woods after getting a shiver looking at a pic of Fae's snow. I think it's about 55 F today. The first pic is a view of the Sandia mountains as I stand on my picnic table in the backyard looking east. Then I turn around and my dog Riley is hangin out in our incredibly filthy backyard portal...or porch.

kato clay first

I bought some kato clay a few weeks ago when it was on sale atHobby Lobby. I limited myself to three colors just to try it out...I ended up with brown, white and black. I love it for caning! The smell is difficult to get used to...the odor kind of knocked me over at first, made me a little squeamish to be honest. But after playing for a while, I forgot all about that...until I cured these pieces...then the smell hit me again. But I totally think it's worth it. I could pick up slices of canework and pull and tug to straighten up the lines. It hardly distorts at all in reduction and will definitely be my new kaleidoscope/tesselations clay! The brown and white make a nice terra cotta color...

One is a pillow bead and the other two are tiles so far...I let you know what they finally become. I'm thinking of adding CF style frames to them.

I was happy to finally get to some canework this week after missing my PCJ buddies in Tehachapi ;o)

More foils

So here a few more groupings of foiled swirls from Friday and Saturday. It is very cool to use layered pieces of foiled pearlescent clay on top of each other. That way you get translucent depth and mica shift together. Very yummy if I do say so myself ;o)

Hope you are all having a nice weekend (brats: Kathi, Pat, Jana, et al) *g*

capped lentils today (thursday)

Here are a few of the lentils that I've capped today...the greeny ones have that fine glitter, the purplies have variegated red foiled leaves, and I think the others have gold foil.

Look how the glass table gets all yucky from the plasticizer in the clay...lovely isn't it? Guess it's time to get the alcohol wipey thingies out.

okay, so today is the first day of my blog. I really have no idea what i'm doing, but how hard can this be? Anyway, I'm on the laptop on the dining room table because the boyz take over my puter sometimes. Here they are...don't you love how one of them is sitting? Slouched down almost to the floor with wire cutters in his mouth? They love "wow."
