New lentils

I finally finished the re-write of the tile article...remember, they needed all the pics to be on a white background? Anyway, it was okay that I had to do it over...I decided to add the embellishment part...which wasn't much, just a little blurb at the end. But now that that's kind of out of my hair, I can finish up a few other things that have been lying around.

This is a close-up of a couple of sets that kind of go together. I'm always working to update the look of my lentils :o) and I think I may start them next week on eBay for 99 cents...ya know for sh*** and giggles.

Sunday...less shoppers, more partiers :o)

it's okay...saturday was such a good day, that I wasn't too upset about Sunday being the day that all peeps wanted to do was watch parades, watch people and dance. Except for the wind...I kept having to re-arrange things and at one point my sign feel down...

Oh, and while I'm at it...a few of the highlights: A woman from the RC Gorman Gallery in Old Town came by my booth and wanted to buy a lot of stuff wholesale to put in the gallery. She says she will see how it goes. Also a man stopped by to say he is opening a gallery in Madrid which is an old mining town on the other side of the Sandia Mtns that is now a thriving hippy/art colony and a great place to shop. He wants me to put some things there...

some cool friends stopped by from the NM Guild...Phreadde, who is a co-founder of the guild, but is heavily into watercolor, but is still doing a brisk wholesale business supplying pc pen/pencil sets to some businesses in NYC. And Ginger who I met while taking classes from Victoria Hughes when she was still in Albq. Ginger is a sweetie. I have a lot of people interested in classes that signed my mailing list and I handed out a gazillion cards. I talked and talked about PC...I was so glad that I brought along my box of canes...and a little story board from Sarah's class...that helped soooo much.

Two more things that were just hilarious...

First thing Saturday morning before I even got to my booth, I spilled Starbucks all over my top...I guess I was just a little nervous. I had to work the booth alone until about 2PM (they were all at Danny's track meet) wearing my sweater over the stains and it was hot! Sunday I brought an extra top just in case *g*

and...DH was standing in my booth Sunday when a woman walked bycarrying her baby sideways and breast-feeding. DH says..."Boy, he looks like he's having fun" (or he looks comfortable or something like that)" DOH! I said...RUDY! Then he realized his mistake and apologized. isn't that just like a man though?!! Freudian slip, ya think? It was too funny...my son Evan and I just could not contain our giggles! And luckily, the mom was a good sport and just laughed along with us.

Oh and for those who are interested...I did about $750 Sat and $350 Sunday. The booth was only $100 for both days. to be honest, I'm shocked that I did that well...I handed all the cash over to DH as we went along and he counted it all. One more great thing about this past weekend...the guys have a teeny bit more respect for me :o)

I love adding the sculptural detail to these...sometimes it's probably a bit much. Here are some of the tiles I've made for the market this weekend. Wish me luck :o)

My bro Leif

A good friend of my brother Leif's sent me this a few days ago...I miss Leif so much. We lost him a year ago this summer to alcoholism. He was my husband's best friend. Please don't drink. Love you all.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray theday may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them but then an entire life to forget them.

TAKE TIME TO LIVE.....
To all my friends and loved ones
I WISH YOU ENOUGH

another s'tile...

When I first started making these tile pendants, I was calling em Santa Fe s'Tiles (styles)...but then I thought it sounded sort of dumb. The article that I'm doing is a on a similar tile to this one...and since it looks so southwestern, I may give it that name again for that article. I dunno...

I am so %%^&*%$#*))^%^&* p-o'd!!!

Not sure how to spell that, but after my story, you'll get my drift...
I have been sitting on my a** all day waiting for a fedex shipment of my slides to submit to Bead Dreams 2006. They say they were delivered to my front door and they WERE NOT! I think I would know dagfrigginnabbit!!!! And today is the @#$%%^^^&&%$ deadline to have them postmarked by!!

I just sent an email to customer service of Bead and Button and will call them first thing tomorrow to see if there is any way at all that I can submit late....prolly not though :o(

Sorry, needed to vent. You know how it goes...you work your butt off, finally make some things you think might be good enough, you fret over pictures, you finally find a place to order slides from, you pay extra to get them here for the deadline, and the very last guy in the chain screws everything up!!

...I am pretty bad aren't I?

okay, okay....i know...i'm such a bad blogger, that I even temporarily forgot my password and sign-in...dang...wull, ya'll know how time flies!

Let's see...last week the kids and DH were on Spring Break. I love my guys, but do you think I got any clay stuff done at all?? heck no, I didn't...so...I'm catching up a bit. Also DH took the laptop back to school, so now the 4 of us are back again to sharing 2 computers...sheesh...

I decided to do "Fiestas de Albuquerque" which is part of a big to-do celebrating the city's 300th BD. The artisan market is at a park down the street from me that is across from Old Town and the museums. Here is a link showing some of the events going on that weekend (April 22 and 23) http://tinyurl.com/e6k6u I think I might have mentioned it in an earlier entry.

Here is another link that takes you to a different page... http://www.cabq.gov/crs/specialevents.html

I'm a little nervous about it because now I have to have lots of stuff made and a display table to worry about. I've already decided that it will be a pretty simple set-up as I don't have the energy to obsess about it too much. Mainly, I want to get my work seen and hand out some cards...so if I make back the $100 entry fee, I'll be okay. I refuse to price anything too low, so we'll see what happens. And then of course, there will be the weather to worry about as well, as it's an outdoor event. Heh, sometimes I worry too much.

Also, I've submitted images of a few different juried competions, which I'll be happy to tell you about if I win ;o)

/////waves to Kathi and Fae!!!! See, you thought I wasn't reading anything didn't cha? Talk to you soon, peoples :o)

Love,
~B
