good news and bad news

well, let's just put it this way...the good news is great and the bad news isn't really all that bad.

son, Danny who graduates this year went to a pre-season track meet today and qualified for state in the javelin and the 200meter. Yay! And to make it a really nice day for him, while he was at the track meet, we received a letter in the mail from UNM to notify us that he received a UNM Scholars award of almost $5K, which he will be awarded every year as long as he keeps a 3.0 grade average. His average at high school is 3.8. I don't usually brag publicly about my kids, but had to just this once :o) So, he's says he's much to tired from the track meet to be excited about the award...

If he knew I was putting pics of him on my blog, I'd be dead meat, so don't tell ;o)

Oh, and the bad news is, is that after 6+ years, the ole pasta machine may have to be taken apart and cleaned. The younger boy says he will tackle it as long as I forgive a $20 debt. I said..."deal, as long as it works right after you fix it." I'll let you know how he does *g*

That's my news for today, hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

Well, all the parts are in a grocery bag right now :o(

Had to go buy the Amaco at Michaels' with the 40% off. I'll bid on a couple today prolly...

I think I'm too lazy to try to put it back together myself. DH says he will try, but he's pretty busy.

Hehe...thanks Kath for saying that about Dan (and the beads ;o)...I think he's pretty gorgeous too. He's got a good chin :o)

Wow Barb, we are in the same boat. I have a pasta machine that I used 10 years ago... and it's never been cleaned! Of course it's not gotten constant use all this time... so I'm probably only technically 5 years into filthy usage. ;)

And kathi is right, he's a goodlooking young man! Even looking straight up his nostrils like that. hee hee

Well, I guess it's possible I *did* kill it...DH put it back together last night. I can roll clay through it, but it's leaving ripples in the clay and no matter how much I clean the rollers, clay still sticks to them a little bit. The Amaco is an absolute piece of sh**...I'm returning it. I appreciate the offer Kath...I guess I have to spring for a new one now :o( I'm so cheap! *g*

Yup, I use mine pretty much every day, so I think it's definitely been a good machine. I forgot to tell Kath that it is an Imperia...which someone told me is a Marcato...which means it's an Atlas...I think... ;o) What brand is yours Fae?

Mine's an Imperia, too! My "good" one that is. I do have one of those cheapo Amaco machines, but that's for the kids to use. I need another good one though, so I have one for darks and one for lights. hee.
