Organic Heart

My new backyard is crawling with red ants...they're coming and carrying off little bits of bird seed. They're coming from the other side of the yard where Riley lives, so I can't really put poisen out. I guess I'll have to remove the bird feeders? I had to hurry and take these pics before they decided to start biting... :o(

Anyway, I'm not a big fan of hearts, but I'm happy with how this first one came out. I spoke to Christi Friesen about this style before she left for B&B...she was very gracious and happy to have inspired me :o)

PCC Challenge

Here are the beads which won 3rd place in the PCC Challenge for May. It was just something new I tried...some foiled strip laid onto bead shapes. I like the way the bicone ones came out, I may make more of those.

oh happy day...last friday when we finished sweating like piggies

Since Saturday we feel like we're on vacation. I'd say we spent a solid 4 days working on the backyard. Hard to believe we can actually invite people over this summer :o)

Here is the before shot again...gawd, what a mess we had!

Backyard fun...

Not fun then, but man if you could see what it looks like now! You'll just have to wait until I get all the decorations up for the party tomorrow. But at least I can show you what the backyard looked like when we just got started on our landscaping.

Dad had his biopsy today

My Daddy is home and feeling fine. We should hear something in about 5 days. Meanwhile, me and the menfolk here have been busily landscaping the backyard...or I should say xeriscaping (desert plants). You guys will not even recognize the back portal...member the one Fae is supposed to help me clean when she comes to visit? Well, no more woman...it'll be so purty that you will forget what it looked like before! The only problem is that DH thinks all of his ideas are better than mine. We're not getting along very well this week. Dan's graduation is this Saturday, so hopefully by then we'll be friends again... *g*

I just finished watching Oprah's "Legend's Ball." ...and I balled alright ;o) Oprah is just cool. I'd love to be her friend...*smile*

Yay! Chargers won state...AAAA division

I think it's been 6 years in a row now that they've won...

Here's a pic of Dan after the 200m. He ended up with two firsts, one second and one third....we're so proud of him!

Thanks Kathi...it was a very nice Mother's Day...no cooking and no cleaning :o)

Just enough time...

to get a few sanded and buffed. Yesterday in the prelims, Dan ran well. I just talked to DH...he's at the track meet right now and Dan's team just won the 4 x 100m relay...one event down 4 to go. I think he's feeling strong today...which is good, today is the real deal! Evan and I are headed out to the meet now. Talk to you Monday...and Happy Mother's Day!

Danny runs this weekend...yikes!

Please send good vibes to Dan...he runs Friday and Saturday in the State Track meet. He pulled a hamstring about 10 days ago, so he's definitely not at 100%. Also, he couldn't run in the city meet last weekend because of it and some kid beat his 400meter time. So, that's where we'll be today...so wish him luck!!! Thanks my friends :o)

"finger filigree?"

Here is my first "finger filigree?" ...good name, bad name? And my first time baking on cornstarch. Will post a pic when all done :o)

Life is like a box of chocolates...

It's the same with all of us...life and good health are wonderful. Children growing into adults...knowing that you helped them along...again wonderful. I know life is a cycle, it has it's ups and downs, beginnings and ends. I find myself a little melancholy these past few days.

My dad's been sick for about a month. He went to the emergency room one night when he couldn't go to the bathroom for 2 days. His prostate is very enlarged and his PSA test (a blood test that they do) is abnormally high. He's scheduled for a biopsy on the 21st of this month...just a few days before my oldest graduates from high school. My dad's 83 and I'm the executor of his will...I know what's ahead of me...and him.

At the same time, I'm planning a graduation party for my oldest. Kind of sad and kind of happy...weird...

Anyway, the good news is, my PolymerCAFE came today...Kathi... :o)

I'm too old for Old Navy...

Yup...I've come to grips today that nothing really works for me at Old Navy anymore...well, I think I can still get away with the jeans and maybe the flip flops. *sigh* I do have a son graduating from high school in a few weeks, so I should just deal with it!

New lentils

I finally finished the re-write of the tile article...remember, they needed all the pics to be on a white background? Anyway, it was okay that I had to do it over...I decided to add the embellishment part...which wasn't much, just a little blurb at the end. But now that that's kind of out of my hair, I can finish up a few other things that have been lying around.

This is a close-up of a couple of sets that kind of go together. I'm always working to update the look of my lentils :o) and I think I may start them next week on eBay for 99 cents...ya know for sh*** and giggles.

Sunday...less shoppers, more partiers :o)

it's okay...saturday was such a good day, that I wasn't too upset about Sunday being the day that all peeps wanted to do was watch parades, watch people and dance. Except for the wind...I kept having to re-arrange things and at one point my sign feel down...

Oh, and while I'm at it...a few of the highlights: A woman from the RC Gorman Gallery in Old Town came by my booth and wanted to buy a lot of stuff wholesale to put in the gallery. She says she will see how it goes. Also a man stopped by to say he is opening a gallery in Madrid which is an old mining town on the other side of the Sandia Mtns that is now a thriving hippy/art colony and a great place to shop. He wants me to put some things there...

some cool friends stopped by from the NM Guild...Phreadde, who is a co-founder of the guild, but is heavily into watercolor, but is still doing a brisk wholesale business supplying pc pen/pencil sets to some businesses in NYC. And Ginger who I met while taking classes from Victoria Hughes when she was still in Albq. Ginger is a sweetie. I have a lot of people interested in classes that signed my mailing list and I handed out a gazillion cards. I talked and talked about PC...I was so glad that I brought along my box of canes...and a little story board from Sarah's class...that helped soooo much.

Two more things that were just hilarious...

First thing Saturday morning before I even got to my booth, I spilled Starbucks all over my top...I guess I was just a little nervous. I had to work the booth alone until about 2PM (they were all at Danny's track meet) wearing my sweater over the stains and it was hot! Sunday I brought an extra top just in case *g*

and...DH was standing in my booth Sunday when a woman walked bycarrying her baby sideways and breast-feeding. DH says..."Boy, he looks like he's having fun" (or he looks comfortable or something like that)" DOH! I said...RUDY! Then he realized his mistake and apologized. isn't that just like a man though?!! Freudian slip, ya think? It was too funny...my son Evan and I just could not contain our giggles! And luckily, the mom was a good sport and just laughed along with us.

Oh and for those who are interested...I did about $750 Sat and $350 Sunday. The booth was only $100 for both days. to be honest, I'm shocked that I did that well...I handed all the cash over to DH as we went along and he counted it all. One more great thing about this past weekend...the guys have a teeny bit more respect for me :o)

"Desert s'Tiles"

I love adding the sculptural detail to these...sometimes it's probably a bit much. Here are some of the tiles I've made for the market this weekend. Wish me luck :o)
